The big hole
Some days you need to go see a big hole. Today was one of those days. Good thing there is a big hole just a few miles west of us. The copper mine is a big hole with big trucks. My kids loved all the rocks. They are constantly bringing rocks in the house in hopes that they are worth some money. When we got up there the weather was a lot colder than I expected. And guess what? I actually had a warmer outfit for mooks. (Granted my grape scented hand sanitizer had leaked out and was dried in a spot on her pants, it smelled really good though.)She was wearing sandals so I tried to change them out for boots but I only had one in the bag. So I did what any good prepared mother would do and made the kids scour the car for socks. We found 3 different socks and mooks wore 2 mismatched socks to keep her feeties warm. Sorry ma that's just how I roll.

Down in Provo
Mookie in Red
She wore her new strawberry red dress today and then ate strawberries for lunch. Don't you want to eat her face?

Let's go fly a kite
A five minute kite flying turned into an afternoon of kite fishing out of the neighbor's tree. This was Jeebs' fishing pole. He duct taped a c clamp to the end of a pole and duct taped that pole to the end of another pole. Taylor decided she wanted to fly her kite. At least she had an afternoon of flying while daddy was fishing.

Taylor
This little girl had her first babysitting gig yesterday. She played with 2 little kids while their mom taught piano lessons across the street. She made five dollars and was extremely stoked. Is she really old enough to do that? I am so not ready for her to grow up...or any of my kids really. Though I would like to sleep through the night again without waking up (I'm looking at you Mookie!)

A villain or Ezra in true form
When everybody is snotty and it's raining and cold outside what do you do? Dress your 2 yr old up as a villain and make him do some acting. If Jeebs ever gets it edited together it will be hilarious. Ezra kidnaps a princess, played by Taylor, ties her to railroad tracks and then he is foiled again by the sheriff Cagey.
In other news, I am going to eat 3 chocolate Easter eggs tomorrow ( prolly 4).

Cabelas
We love cabelas, mostly for the fish and the sugar free candy, but we're so close it makes an easy, fun field trip. Cagey was really excited about the tents. I was proud of myself for not getting some of the delicious smelling fries or any of the sugar free candy. I did buy some half price maple fude and lemon drops for Jeebs, and some a-maizing corn snack sort of like unto corn nuts but not. Yeah we always end up with food and nothing else.

Exhaustion
Jeebs, Ezra and Lauren hunting for eggs in the rock pit. |
This has been an exhausting time in our lives: moving across the country, homeschooling 2 kids, Jeebs' 4 projects all due on the same day, battling illnesses. We aren't generally this sick (I don't think). I can only conclude that it must be increased stress and decreased sleep. Oh sleep where art thou? We had a weekend of Easter egg hunts. There are so many places to hide Easter eggs in the back yard! We will probably be finding Easter eggs for a while. Jeebs and I both had to speak in church today. Oh the stress- I do not like speaking in church. I think I had sweat rolling down my legs. All I wanted to do was go home and take a nap after sacrament meeting, but I had to go to primary and do singtime. Whoo- it has definitely been the Vanessa Nicolaysen show and I do not like the Vanessa Nicolaysen show.
Taylor, Cagey and Caleb on the prowl. |
Cute mooks in her Easter dress. |
Again cute Mooks in her Easter dress and her fuzzy hair sticking up. |
This is what happened after Mookie snuck some Easter chocolate and we took it away. Her first chocolate- so much for waiting until her one year mark. |

It worked???
My two oldest children listened to 6 hours of conference. They got a conference bingo card from primary on Sunday. I almost threw them away because I thought they were done with them. I was shocked on Saturday morning when cagey was getting frustrated by not being able to find his bingo paper. I was even more amazed when they sat through 2 hours of the Saturday morning session not even willing to go to the bathroom for fear they might miss a word in their bingo game. They did have the tv up to 70000 decibels and after the very last session there were a few tears because they were only a couple of squares away from blackout. But, six hours of conference for a kid that couldn't keep his lips still only a few years ago is major improvement!
