I freakin' hate my hair!

Today was one of those days when one comes, once again, to the realization that their hair really sucks. Humidity has always destroyed my efforts in fixing my hair. The past few days have been considerably gross and humid. It brings back memories of high school. I'd fix my hair- take me 10 or 15 min then the walk from the car to the front door of the school would flatten my hair to look like a limp dish rag. So, today- and the past several days, I haven't even tried to make it look nice. I like to wear it longer, but in the humidity it does nothing! more nothing than when it's shorter. I have no natural curl, no thickness whatsoever and no texture- it sucks, my hair lays like a clump of dead feathers (as opposed to live feathers) around my face. The first day I fixed my hair in Utah when we were there a few weeks ago I was so excited that it actually stayed looking semi- fixed. I miss the awesomeness that is Wendy Frances in Utah- hard to find a good hair dresser.

Dog Attack

Today while Cagey was sleeping, Taylor decided she wanted to go for a ride on her bike and she wanted me to rollerblade with her. Well, Percy always knows when we're going for a walk and wants to go along- and he really does need the exercise. So, with the 85 degree weather and 1000% humidity welcoming us- we left and headed straight down our road towards all the new houses. Everything was great- we were having fun, tates was keeping up with me, and then we got to the end of the street ready to turn around. Out from behind one of the houses one of the biggest black dogs I've ever seen comes running out towards us. Percy immediately cowered back behind me and it was obvious the dog wanted to sniff him or check him out the way dogs do- or so I thought. I started stomping at him and yelling "go home" which generally scares dog enough that they get back and you have time to retreat to a safer distance. Oh not so with this one- he got right over Percy sniffed him for a split second and then CHOMPED his back and started SHAKING him around like a ragdoll. Percy was screaming and I started yelling as loud as I could at the dog and stomping my foot to startle him. I was on my stupid rollerblades so I couldn't kick him and I was really scared stiff because I'd never seen a dog do this to another dog. It was one of the most horrifying scenes, I felt so helpless and scared- Taylor was screaming and I was trying to keep her back- I wanted to save my dog, but I didn't want him to turn on Taylor or me. I kept looking around and screaming for what seemed like several minutes while he shook Percy- thinking someone will hear me scream and come get their dog off of my dog! Oh no, nobody ever came. No one came out of their house- nobody! He finally dropped Percy and then got more interested in smelling the pee and poop that percy had released then anything else. So I scooped up Percy, who had a huge slobber mark on his back, and hugged him into my shirt and yelled to Tates to back off slowly. We backed off looking at the dog until he walked some distance away from us, and then we just turned and bolted for home. I kept looking over my shoulder hoping he wasn't following us. I was shaking and completely horrified at what I had just witnessed. I was just hoping Percy wouldn't be bitten into.

We got home and I went in and immediately yelled for Jeebs to help me check Percy out. Luckily, he didn't have any puncture wounds. He was just really scared. After thoroughly checking him out, Jeebs went down the road to see if he could find the dog and find the owner. The dog had a purple collar on so I know he belonged to someone. He didn't see the dog or anything else. So frustrating!! I put Percy down and he went over and hid under the end table in our living room, scared to death. I felt so horrible. I sat by him and the smell of the a$$ slobber from the dog was about to knock me down so I gave him a gentle warm bath to clean him up. He didn't even fight it. I was afraid he might have internal injuries or something, but after about an hour he was back to his old self. He's back to barking and chasing the kids. I know he's annoying, but he definitely didn't deserve to be attacked. I feel so sorry for him and the memory of him being shaken and screaming like he was will haunt me for a long while to come!

Why?

Why is it when you're waiting on something life slows down? Generally speaking, my life flies by and gets faster every year I get older. I still can't believe I've graduated High School and it's really unbelievable that I graduated from college. Now, here I am living in a place I had never heard of until about 4 weeks before moving here and we're stuck waiting on yet another job offer. I'm not real hopeful it'll be a great offer, but it's something to wait for. It was supposed to come yesterday but didn't, shocker, and so thinking maybe today- yeah, not today either. It seems like Tuesday and Wednesday would never end.

So, yesterday after dinner to tire the kids out and have a little fun we took them to the park. Jeebs got a few cute pics of the ever present death slide. Seriously, death slide, I went down it at terminal velocity and jammed my tailbone at the bottom, good times. Cagey looks like he is training for the luge. luge?

Invitations

This is for my sister-in-law who helped me design and carry out the envelopes for my invitations. These are invitations for Wendy's baby shower when she feels better to have a shower. The theme will either be lollipops and lace or just sweet treats- hence the lollipop on the front.

And this is just a cute pic tater's caught of cagey while she was working on one of her school projects. Homeschool projects, that is.

My old classmate won an Olympic Gold...

Tonight I watched my old classmate from BYU win an Olympic gold medal. Ryan Mylar, #9, plays on the Olympic men's volleyball team. He was in one of my sociology classes and we did a group project together- It's pretty cool watching somebody you know from school win an Olympic gold medal. That was my senior year- so I guess that was 2002? then he was playing professional volleyball in Italy- or so he said. And just because I don't have much else to say on that subject- Cosmo, the BYU mascott, or the guy that is in the Cosmo suit- was also in that class. He was super nice and cute. And, oddly enough, his sister was friends with my sister somehow- small world.

My other claim to fame- and if my sister were still alive she would be rolling her eyes at me for writing about this because I brought it up every day of my freshman year- My first year at BYU in my Calculus class there was the main girl from the movie Rigolleto (sp?). Which really wasn't a huge deal because it was just one of those feature family films that nobody's ever heard of and also it was a really large class- But, everyday I would drive my sister nuts talking about the Rigelleto gert in my class hehehehe- good times, good times.

I guess this post wouldn't be complete if I didn't mention the fact that my sister worked with Ken Jennings- the famous Jeopardy guy- you may have read my post about this on my vblog. But, if you haven't- now you know. He really was a cool guy- even though he did pick on me and call the African people my people hehehe:) Man, I guess I did have a good time at BYU, even though I didn't get any dates (that was for you Elizabeth).

Stuff

Here are the things I've been working on for our teacher training meeting. It has a whole grow a testimony in their hearts theme- there are 20 little watering cans. 3 cookies per can- 60 cookies with coordinating jelly bean colors in the bottom.

Jeebs' weekend consisted of a boy scout campout complete with some manly shooting in the evening and a yacht ride this morning and afternoon. Being a very motion sicknessy person- oh yeah he barfed. hehehe

This is a cute pic of the yacht driver- Brother something- he volunteered the use of his boat.
And this one is for Melissa, she's out of town so I thought she'd enjoy this pic of her husband! :)

Sharing Time

I am trying to prepare my sharing time for Sunday and I have a serious mental block. I know I want the kids to prepare an FHE of their own, but I'm not quite sure how to do it. There needs to be a lesson and an activity- but how do I do it where they come up with it? Think Think Think. Maybe a series of questions? HMMMMmmmm What to do, what to do...

My head is about to explode trying to think of all the things I need to get done tomorrow and Sunday. I've just got to relax- I'm good enough, I'm smart enough and gosh darn it people like me - ha!! Any and all suggestions are welcomed. BTW has anybody read the 4th Twilight book yet- just want to know what everybody thought.

I have nothing to report

I really have nothing to write about, but I wanted to have something new for my adoring audience to read ha! In the past few days we've had a sick kid, very little sleep and as always an annoying dog running around the neighborhood. We took Cagey to the doctor yesterday at the last minute to check him out. He's been coughing for a week and yesterday he just got worse. Fever, red spots on the roof of his mouth, and even more lethargic than before. We ran to the doctor- got the "it's just a virus" diagnosis and came back home.

So, Cagey's breath smells like death, he whines until I would welcome death, and my 5 year old continues to be unable to entertain herself without the tv or computer. Good times, good times. Jeebs is looking for jobs and working on a new contract job. We need to put our house back up for sale, but I really hate dealing with having my house on the market especially for the value to go down and no showings. So if anybody out there in my audience wants to by a home in New Bern, NC we'll give you a good deal:)

Sunday Sunday Sunday

Today was a long Sunday. After church I stayed for a cubscout meeting that lasted 40 min. Then I came home and gorged myself with a hamburger and mac 'n cheese. Then rounded it off with an oatmeal creme pie. I haven't had one in many moons, but Sunday is my day to splurge. It was pretty tasty. I then took a nice nap, but for some reason on Sundays I could sleep forever. I had to wake myself up though because I had to play at a baptism at 6. I got there about 15 min early so I could play some prelude. After seeing what I could do to help to set up I went to the piano to start my marathon playing. I started out thinking how thankful I was for my mom putting us all in piano lessons- that I could now serve with my little bit of talent. Then I played for 30 MIN!! Bitterness was starting to set in after I raced through the hymnbook 17 times. Bitterness and backpain. The baptism that was supposed to start at 6 started at 6:20!! No biggie, but then I came back after the actual baptism and played more prelude while everybody came back in from the font. I kept waiting for them to stop me. That prelude went on for another 10 min or so. Needless to say I was running out of hymns that I knew I could play off the cuff. I find it very distracting when the prelude has a million mistakes in it. SOoooooooo- after playing 30 min of prelude at the beginning- then 10 min in the middle- then a couple of verses of postlude- my back and shoulders are DONE.

Anyway- to ease my pain I ate a butterscotch gooey bar. When I got home I ate another half of a hamburger bug with butter and honey and then another half turkey sandwich. Complete with popcorn and a few chocolate candies :) hehehehe I don't know why I can't lose weight. Diet starts Monday! ha!

Weed-eeding

That's what I thought it was when I was little :) I've always been scared of a trimmer/edger whatever it is. But, today I conquered my fear and got out our new cheap trimmer and went to work. It's actually pretty fun. I knew Jeebs wouldn't have time to do it tonight and tomorrow night is Friday and I'm always hopeful there will be some kind of fun event- an outing of some kind. Anyway- it needed to be done and so I did it. Cord flying off and stinging my legs, grass flying up all over my clothes, and the shear power of my 30$ electric trimmer vibrating in my hands. hehehehe. It's better than mowing and I get to be outside getting something accomplished.

After I weed eated- or would it be ate? I went for a quick rollerblade around the neighborhood. It's one of my new favorite thing to do. I always imagine myself in the Olympics- thighs as big as tree stumps, skin like boot leather, looking like a man and racing on rollerblades through the poop-filled streets of China. if only.

Vote for my room

the choices were limited

A Chocolatey Chippy DAy

Yesterday I got my new dryer!! YAY! it won't fit in my laundry hutch- so the doors are now hanging open- never to close again:) Before all that happened I called to get Taylor's immunization records in case we decide to start public school (blagh). Well, her doctor's office doesn't have them in the system, they're in storage because we haven't been in a while- so it will take them at least 2 weeks to get the records. So I called the doctor here that Cage has gone to to make her an appointment for a 5 year checkup because maybe they could get the records faster. Well, they can't get her in until Sept. 4th, school starts August 22nd. I also called another elementary school to see if they take transfer students and how much the transfer fees are. Well, you have to through the board of flippin' education to do that and the fee is around 1300$. SOoooooooooooo- to homeschool or not to homeschool. I'm all for homeschool- better education, controlled environment, just better all around. I just wanted to try her in public school just to see if she'd like it because she gets so bored during the day. So we'll see what happens. I still haven't made up my mind. She says she wants to stay home another year in one breath and then she wants to try school in the other. This is just the cherry on top of all the other things going on. So I have had a few more chocolate chips today than I usually allow myself :) I'll pay for it later.

Scroll down and read the post beneath this

Then you can enjoy the pics!! Utah!! Life elevated- barfo

KaraTAAAEE class- Kelton's buddy day was Thursday and Tates got to go with him- she had so much fun.

Cagey- the fearless tree. We "hiked" around Silver Lake up Big Cottonwood canyon. The weather was PERFECT- Jeebs was in heaven.

A bubble bath with a ridiculous amount of bubbles.

Tates and Kelton...hamming it up. The 4 Goobers in Glen's front yard. Tates, Kelton, Cooper and Cage.

The 3 super Goobers on Grandma and Grandpa Nicolaysen's balcony. BTW they're supposed to be looking like cowboys resting their hands on their pants- cagey...almost got it.

The ultimate pool tournament in the basement. To be continued...Just for the record I schooled Jeebs and Tom in pool a couple of nights before this.

AND...We're back

Well, one of the first things I did while in Utah was read Breaking Dawn. Got to say- started out really good- then flopped at the end. What the heck?? 200 pages of talking about a huge hopeless fight and then nothing happens? It was like she was writing the ending just to make everybody have a warm fuzzy. I think a better ending would have been- The Volturi show up...massacre everybody- and then switch to Bella, Edward and Renessme in some kind of afterlife- it gives it a definite ending AND shows that Edward and Bella still have souls even though they were vampires- TAADAA, much better ending. Thank you thank you.

Okay- after that big let down we had a great week shopping, visiting, and stuffing our faces with our Utah favorites. One thing that was pretty cool- waiting in the SLC airport for our flight on Saturday- I just happened to turn around and saw Chelsea and Gev from So You Think You Can Dance walking through the airport. Pretty cool. Chelsea was walking like her poop didn't stink and Gev was right beside her. She is a lot thinner in person than she is on TV. I guess the camera really does add 10 pounds. There goes my film career. Anyway- good time had by all- glad to be back sleeping in my own bed in my own house. I'll post some pics soon- soon- very soon

More stuff we got to do...

Yesterday we spent all day in Provo/Orem, our old stomping ground. Got to be cracked at my chiropractor- wonderful!! painful, but wonderful!!! Then, we went to BYU so Jeebs could talk to one of his professors and I went to the bookstore. Well, his professor was not there- he's in Park City for the rest of the week, of course!! After he emailed Jeebs and told him he'd be there all this week- oh well. I did get some good stuff at the bookstore. THEN, we went and ate at Toucanos- very tasty- did some shopping at Riverwoods- went to find Shepherd's cake and candy- it has moved or changed or something- Taylor got to go to karate with her cousin and break a board. THEN we hung out with my big bro and my little nephews for the rest of the evening. AND I got to watch the finale of So You Think You Can Dance- JOSHUA!! Yeah!! I liked him- boy got a big ol' butt and he could dance!! Anyway, good stuff. Today is another day- with more shopping in it :) hope everybody is doing okay!! LATA

Blah di Blah Blah

Well, today we went hiking up in big cottonwood canyon around silver lake. I haven't seen James this happy in a long time so I guess when we get home he'll be back to his grumpy depressed self. Makes me feel so good about myself :) Then we had lunch at Red Robin which was super tasty. Cagey took a marathon nap afterwords. Then we had dinner in Liberty Park which I know was the death park when I was little, but my in-laws insist it's Pioneer Park that is the death park, but whatever. The highlight of the day for me was getting to read the 4th and final book of the twilight series. I got it last night and I'm over halfway through. It's really pretty good. I am now at a very pivotal point in the story and I am sitting in here in the dark waiting for Cage fall asleep so I can go finish it. I know I'm going to be so sad I didn't save it for the plane ride home, but oh well. I hope all is well - 9:57 and all's weeeeaaalll!!! name the movie

Update

Today I got to SHOP! We went to DSW shoe store which I was soooo excited about, but, alas, I did not find anything I couldn't live without. I found a couple of cute tops at the Buckle and got several items at Gymboree for around 30$. I was really just in hog heaven having stores to go to other than Target and Walmart. We also made it to Great Harvest and got some tasty bread and cookies. Then tonight we went to Cabella's and got sugar free candy which is already working on my stomach and lower GI tract :) Oh well, it was tasty. If I just knew where everything was. Hopefully we will get to spend a couple of days in our neck of the woods- Provo/Orem. I have a chiro appointment Thursday morning and I couldn't be more excited!! Glen, if you're reading this- we'll be in Provo all day on Thursday- so if y'all want to do something- don't know what. I just want to shop and eat :)

WE made it!!

We made it. We're exhausted. Long day. I planned to do a lot more today than we did, but I was too exhausted. If anybody needs to tell me something- just leave a comment-I'll be checking it every night. Oh for those of you who don't know, we're in Utah. woohoo. Went to my absolute favorite place to eat- Fresh Food Junkies- CLOSED DOWN!!! stupid Utah. anyway- ate at The Spinning Rooster instead.
