Red letter day

We went to olive garden on Saturday and nobody puked! After the last 2 trips with Ezra spewing something that was an accomplishment!

We no longer own a house...

So we went to 5 guys to celebrate. See the ghetto grocery bag? All it has on it are the grease stains to show you how official and fattening the food is for you, baby!

And- we are saying goodbye to summer soon! I am not ready for it to end. I actually had reasons to put on makeup. Now I just get dolled up to make dinner. I did a purple eye with red lips- I'm not a fan of dark lipstick on me, I look like a drag queen! This picture is scary, but I had to post it for Red! For you Red, try a purple eye with red lips!

Summer is almost over and we have run out of swim diapers. So today Mooks had to go commando in her swimsuit. Baby bums are the cutest!

Cousin movie night/ farewell summer bash

Goodbye summer! You will be missed! We celebrated in style with swimming, eating and a late night outdoor movie. The kids had a blast with their cousins watching How to Train Your Dragon. I love having parties like this! Any suggestions for what we can do to welcome fall? I want to do a Harry Potter party in a major way!

Surprise! First day of school!

We got a surprise email yesterday telling us Taylor had a spot at the one charter school I had put their names into. We were expecting to start school onthe 27th, but this school was already in session. So once we found out Cagey got in too we decided to go for it. I ran around like a mad woman trying to get uniforms and stuff for lunches. I just hope it's worth it! They started 2 days late, but it seems like they are going to like it. Taylor will be learning Arabic and Cagey will be learning Chinese. Interesting very interesting.

Finally!!!

I finally got something from the plants I planted at the beginning if the summer! That tells you just what kid of gardener I am...crappy. I'm thrilled to have my first zucchini though. I'm even more thrilled about the fact that one of the cucumber seeds we planted washed away and is coming up randomly on a flower bed! Yay for cucumbers!

Oh snap oh snap come to a Nicolaysen picnic...

And-
1. Wally the wasp will torture you endlessly while my children scream and Jeebs threatens his life with a folded piece of the church news. I laughed hysterically because all I could imagine was how crazy we looked to all our fellow picnickers who couldn't see Wally. That's ok though we had front row seats for their make out session on their picnic blanket.

2. You'll see Taylor- my oldest- 9 years old- falling into the river. I was so worried about Ezra being careless and falling in, but my children are always full of surprises. It scared her more than anything- again i was laughing because of the slow motion version of her rolling into the river.

3. And no picnic would be complete without Ezra puking. Yup. He got chocolate stuck in his mouth and I didn't get it out fast enough- he gagged and gagged. I thought we were out of the woods so I brought him back to the table where he then unleashed the beast. Pink tinted vomit spewed from my little geyser as he tried to clear the chocolate from his throat. But really, what's a meal without vomit? I wouldn't even know.

Today's hike...3 Moosen!

We went to twin lakes today above silver lake near Brighton. It was so nice up there- the breeze was cool and the crowd was thin. We are not people people. On the way down we saw 3 moose! We saw a momma moose with her baby and then farther down we saw a bull. I was amazed- nature can be interesting- I finally realize it after years of giving my parents attitude. Don't worry I'm getting plenty of paybacks.

My view

I don't like to cook anymore- I think I've mentioned that before. My family has squashed that for me with their picky eating. Now I have a whole new challenge when trying to cook dinner. This is what clings to my legs as I walk to the kitchen to make dinner- like a lamb to the slaughter.

Guess who..

Just ran 5k in 27 min? This fat white girl. I'd like to thank Jillian michaels who has been kicking me in the bum for the last- I don't know how long- most recently I guess 10 months. I know it's not a super great time, but for me... it's awesome.

This is my challenge

Jillian's extreme shed and shred is a long tough workout. I've gotten to where I can do level 1 or level 2 fairly easily. But, doing the whole one hour and 20 min is tough! I did it on Friday and Saturday I was aching. My legs were sore, my abs were sore and I was worn out at 8:30 in the morning. It was nice to be sore again though- I feel like it actually does something. Sooo my challenge is to start doing the whole thing at least 2 times a week to start. That means I have to be up by at least 7:30 or 7. I might die.

And- cagey tried making chocolate milk from scratch like I make- he forgot the water and the sugar. Yummy!

We got a hike in,

But it wasn't too fantastic. Jeebs had a lot of work to do today so we weren't able to do a long hike. I found a little trail near Snowbird that I thought would be easy and fun and short. Cagey screamed and cried as we left because he couldn't find his camelback, then he couldn't get the mouthpiece looped through properly. Ezra screamed and cried and wailed along the trail because we forgot to put his hiking shoes on. Then Taylor cried and huffed and puffed because we were leaving her behind and it was her turn to sit in the back on the way home. I will not let them beat us though!!! They will learn to get along and shut it on our hikes! We will prevail!

Eating at sweet tomatoes

I love sweet tomatoes and we finally got to go last night. Mooks looked so cute and yet was so very loud. I have also officially lost 10 pounds!! Woohoo!! Now on to the next 10 and another 10 after that. And if I hadn't cropped my face out of that pic you would see the "Im so very tired of working out" face right after my hour and a half with Jillian.

The play room is clean

And yes this is blog worthy. The toy room has been a pit of toy despair for months. I clean it up and it would be a disaster in 3 seconds so I gave up for a couple of months. I couldn't put it off any longer and I am trying a new system. The smaller toys I put in the toy bin that can't be dumped. In the dump-able bins I put the bigger toys so even if they do get dumped its an easier clean up. Yeah should have figured that out sooner, but you know this is me we're talking about.
